Susan Koch-Weser announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 4

It has been my honor to serve as a Town Meeting Member for Precinct 4 over the past three years. I’ve never missed a meeting or a vote, and I approach each article with careful study, community input, and a strong sense of responsibility. I also help organize pre-Town Meeting gatherings so Precinct 4 TMMs can share insights and ask questions of each other. My votes reflect a thoughtful balance of data, ethics, and values, especially on the many challenging issues we’ve faced recently.

I believe in sustaining our excellent public schools. Milton has long delivered strong outcomes while spending less than many comparable towns, but there are limits to how far we can stretch our resources. I will always vote to support our schools.

I also believe smart, community-driven growth is essential. When towns say no to development, we risk losing control to 40B projects like the Ice House that can override local zoning and disrupt the character of our neighborhoods. Therefore I support thoughtful planning that adds housing while respecting Milton’s identity.

I am equally committed to protecting our natural environment—particularly the Pine Tree Brook in P4—which can be impacted by competing priorities. These decisions are never easy, but I approach them with care and integrity. I also support improving coordination across town departments to increase transparency and efficiency.

Professionally, I bring over 25 years of experience as a researcher, educator, and public health leader, I currently have a faculty appointment at Tufts University. I’ve led research projects focused on health disparities, program evaluation, and community engagement, and I’ve collaborated across cultures and disciplines. Locally, I’ve brought this expertise to many volunteer roles—including the Milton Coalition, Return to School Task Force, Milton Youth Task Force, and as Board President of Discovery Schoolhouse.

My family has called Milton home for 21 years. We’ve raised our sons here, enjoyed the parks and schools, and worked to make the town stronger. I respectfully ask for your vote so I can continue serving our precinct with integrity, thoughtfulness, and dedication.
