Stephanie O’Keefe announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 8

Hi Neighbors! My name is Stephanie O’Keefe and I am running for my 3rd term as a Town Meeting Member from Precinct 8. My husband Dave and I moved to Milton 22 years ago and have loved raising our three kids here and we value the community we have built in our 2 decades in Milton. With the kids growing up (and out) we recently downsized our home in Milton, but luckily, we still live in Precinct 8.

My time as a Town Meeting Member over the last 6 years has been productive, interesting and at times frustrating.Over my six years on TM, I have reviewed warrants and supporting materials, attended or watched relevant meetings, asked questions, actively listened to dissenting opinions and have never missed a night or a vote. Town government can sometimes be clunky but through the good faith efforts of many people, budgets are built and reviewed, bylaws are crafted, edited and voted on, initiatives are brought forward and debated. I am grateful to all the people in Milton who give so much of their time and expertise to our town.

Specifically, I will vote yes for the override on April 29, and if re-elected, I will always vote yes to fairly fund our town departments – police, fire, schools, DPW, parks, COA, etc. We all rely on these departments in different ways throughout our lifetimes and they deserve our support. I believe we need an MBTA Communities plan that is compliant and fair, that meets our obligations and also protects the current homeowners of Milton, and I hope that the Planning Board will bring that plan before TM in June. If re-elected, I will vote yes on the Lower Gile Rd turf project and yes on the one day liquor license article.

My commitment to Milton stems from a deep belief in community-driven solutions and transparent governance at all levels. I’m running for Town Meeting because I want to ensure that our collective voice is heard and that decisions are made with the best interests of all residents in mind. We may not always agree on certain issues, but it’s important that we can have robust conversations in pursuit of solutions that work for all.

Please reach out with any questions, my cell is 401-486-1386 and my email is [email protected].

I respectfully ask for one of your ten votes in Precinct 8 on April 29.
