Marieke Goldman-Silva announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 4/4A
I am excited to announce my candidacy for Town Meeting Member in Precinct 4/4A.
When my family and I moved to Milton in 2018, we were drawn by its exceptional schools and abundant green spaces. Through Milton, our family has formed long-lasting friendships in both our neighborhood and the Tucker school community. We love the outdoors and regularly visit Milton’s parks, Blue Hills Reservation, Pine Tree Brook and Neponset bike path.
My two daughters attend Tucker Elementary School, and I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to volunteer as a PTO board member in the school. This has allowed me to see close up the inspiring dedication from faculty and staff as well as the overcrowding issues and additional needs our schools face. In my career, I work as a primary care provider in a community health center with underserved and homeless populations. I believe strongly in health equity, the importance of a good education and giving back to my community.
With this year’s override, I have had a heightened interest in our town government. I am concerned that decisions made today will directly impact our children’s future educational experience, and I’m determined to ensure they receive at least the same quality of education as they have now. This experience has highlighted how profoundly local government shapes our daily lives, from our schools and parks to our library and essential services. That is why I am running for Town Meeting Member.
I want to contribute to shaping these vital decisions, bringing my skills of attentive listening, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to investing in our future generation. With your support, I will promote equitable growth and thoughtful development that respects our town’s character, while using common-sense budgeting to ensure our town’s police, fire department and teachers have the resources they need. I strongly believe that Milton’s excellent school system is the cornerstone of our community and we must support our teachers and school administrators as they foster a sense of belonging, inclusion and academic excellence.
Thank you for considering my candidacy. It would be an honor to represent precinct 4/4a at Town Meeting. I hope I can count on your vote on April 29th.
