Elizabeth M. Carroll announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 3

My name is Elizabeth M. Carroll, and I am excited to be running for re-election to Milton’s Town Meeting representing Precinct 3.

I live with my husband James and our daughters, Annie and Julia, on Randolph Avenue near Milton Village. We are so thankful to be raising our family in Milton, where our busy family life with children in 2nd and 5th grade revolves around not only our great Milton Public Schools, parks and library, but also the essential services we rely on through public safety and infrastructure. I was first elected to Town Meeting in 2019 driven by my desire to give back to this great community; I have learned a lot in this role about how Milton functions through our bylaws, zoning, and budget processes.

My service on Milton’s School Committee since 2021, including two years as Chair and two years also serving on Milton’s Capital Improvement Planning Committee, has only deepened my knowledge of both the challenges and opportunities we face, while extending my awareness of how our town’s boards and committees must work collaboratively to help Milton function most efficiently and effectively for all residents.

As a Milton Public School parent and dedicated volunteer for our town, I am deeply invested in Milton’s future. I believe that we can embrace positive changes without compromising what makes Milton so special. I meet challenges head on with calm, coherent strategy. I approach serving on Town Meeting with a curious mindset, dedicating the time necessary to be informed and apply lessons learned for continuous improvement. I am committed to providing all Town Departments with the resources necessary to maintain vital services, property values and quality of life for all residents. I therefore support the Override that is required to avoid devastating cuts to our schools, police, fire, library and more.

I believe in promoting a responsible, proactive approach to development for vibrant neighborhoods and a more diverse tax base less reliant on property taxes. For Precinct 3, our mixed used overlay districts in Milton Village and Central Avenue, as well as the wharf waterfront area, will require special attention. The leadership style I have demonstrated in serving our community is to focus on what brings us together and build bridges by listening to different perspectives. I hope for the opportunity to continue representing Milton’s Precinct 3, and I would appreciate one of your votes on April 29!
