Brooke Plotkin announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 3
Hi, I’m Brooke and I hope you will consider voting for me for town meeting member in precinct 3 on April 29th!
I have two young daughters, one who is starting Kindergarten this fall. In talking with neighbors and friends during the MBTA communities act vote, I realized that it’s easy for people new to town to feel disconnected from the town happenings, and I want to help bridge the information gap with young Milton families.
I care deeply about education. I finished my Ph.D. in behavioral neuroscience in 2024 and spent many years teaching undergraduates at UMB. Having taught mainly first year students, I saw the wide range in college preparedness among them. I want to make sure that we prioritize funding education in this town so that, for those who choose the college path, they arrive on campus prepared both academically and emotionally.
I also care immensely about community. We know the benefits of social support to the emotional and physiological wellbeing of people of all ages. I want to make sure that Milton continues to be the amazing community that it is today and that we come up with a sustainable plan to generate commercial tax revenues to maintain the essential needs of this town.
