Rachel Pozzar announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 8

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

My name is Rachel Pozzar, and I’m pleased to announce my candidacy to serve a third term as Town Meeting Member in Precinct 8.

My top priorities as a Town Meeting Member are:

• To ensure residents have access to excellent public schools and town services that meet their needs and enhance their quality of life; and
• To foster the long-term financial health of the Town and its residents. In pursuit of these goals, at our most recent Town Meeting, I was proud to cast my vote in support of:
• Developing the fourth floor of the Cunningham Elementary School, which will alleviate overcrowding at the Cunningham and Collicot schools and restore the shared school library;
• Conducting a school construction feasibility study with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, which will provide the Town with grant funding for a school construction project; and
• Establishing a means-tested Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemption, which will expand existing property tax relief options for seniors. I believe elected officials should be well-informed about everything from contentious local issues to the routines that make a Town function. I am committed to sharing accurate information and taking a collaborative approach to governance.

My service to the Town has led me to partner across constituencies and Town Departments, including in the following roles:

My day job as an oncology nurse scientist has prepared me to take a thoughtful approach to problem-solving and to make decisions that are supported by the best available data. In my next term, I pledge to continue my work as a diligent and accessible Town Meeting Member.
