Nathan Hutto announces candidacy for Milton Planning Board

Dear Milton Friends and Neighbors,

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Milton School Committee. As a dedicated father, longtime Milton resident, and experienced executive, I bring the operational and management expertise our schools need at this critical time. Milton Public Schools are a community treasure, but they face significant financial and operational challenges. With rapid enrollment growth, rising costs, and limited resources, we need leaders who can navigate complex decisions, manage change effectively, and ensure our schools remain a top choice for families.

I have spent over 20 years leading large organizations through growth, budget constraints, and strategic change. As the Chief Operating and People Officer for a statewide nonprofit, I oversee a multi-million-dollar budget, senior leadership teams, and hundreds of employees across Massachusetts. I’ve worked through tough financial decisions, led large-scale operations, and understand how to make systems work efficiently. These are the skills I will bring to the School Committee.

My wife, Caitlain (McCarthy), was born and raised in Milton and attended Collicot as a child. We are now raising our daughters, Elsie (Pierce 6th grader) and Alexandra (Collicot 2nd grader), in her childhood home in East Milton. Like all parents, I want to ensure our schools provide a modern, high-quality education for every student.

As a School Committee member, I will focus on:

  • Strong Financial Oversight: Advocate for the funding our schools need while ensuring accountability and smart use of resources.
  • Student Learning: Support modern teaching strategies, updated curriculum, and high-quality special education.
  • Facilities Planning: Address overcrowding with a responsible, long-term plan that balances affordability and space needs.
  • Transparency and Trust: Ensure clear communication from district leaders on budgeting, staffing, and student safety.

Milton’s schools are at a turning point. With strong leadership, strategic decision-making, and responsible planning, we can continue to provide the high-quality education our children deserve.

I would be honored to earn your support.
