February 2025: Milton hosts virtual series on solo aging – Sign up today!
There is a special virtual series of programs happening in the month of February called: “Solo Aging: The Unique Planning Needs of Solo Agers” and this is jointly sponsored by both the Milton Council on Aging and the Milton Public Library.
The series started at the end of January and continues this month with these topics: “Health Care Decision Making and the Value of Advance Care Planning” on Thursday, Feb. 6 (Session #2), with “Evaluating, Assessing, and Enhancing Your Support System” on Thursday, Feb. 20 (Session #3), and with “Where You Live Matters: Exploring What the Best Housing Options Are For You” on Thursday, Feb. 27 (Session #4).
The final session (#5) is scheduled for 3/6 with details to follow in our next release. All of these programs start online at 7:00 p.m.
In these discussions, facilitator Ailene Gerhardt, MA BCPA, SCA Independent Board-Certified Patient Advocate, will present an educational presentation based on recent research about seniors. 27% of U.S. households have one person who lives alone: 36% of respondents in a Pew Research survey with children would prefer not to involve them in their care as they age. Funding for this series is through a grant from the MA Council on Aging, and there is no charge to participate. Please go to these links to sign up for the Feb. program, as space is limited:
