The Milton Public Library announces adult programs for November 2024

During the month of November, the Milton Public Library is offering a nice variety of events for adults and families to attend. The second concert of the Fall series is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, at 2:00 p.m. in the Keys Community Room, and it is sure to be a fun and entertaining hour with the Boston Typewriter Orchestra. The BTO is a collective endeavor which “engages in rhythmic manipulation combined with elements of performance, comedy, and satire.” The Orchestra has posed the questions of: “What is an instrument? Can music be performed on objects of the business world? What is the intersection of industry and art? Where can we find beauty and purpose in the world’s relentless grind and repetition?” Please bring the family for this free event, which will present fascinating percussion, vocals and other instruments to enjoy for the whole family. This rhythmic music is great for kids too, so please join us!

Our ongoing career series continues this month with sessions on Wednesday, November 6 and November 20, starting at 9:30 a.m. via Zoom. This series, called the “MA Collaborative Library 50+ Job Seekers Group” offers a different topic at each meeting, and in November the subjects discussed will be “Networking” and “Interview Strategies” respectively. If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new position in the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking, this networking group is perfect for you! The facilitator is Deborah Hope, an experienced job coach and recruiter. You do need to register for each meeting individually and you will need to use this unique registration link to do so: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEpcuCrqDsjHd23xSry8crcKEej9NWnLiIv#/registration

Knitters and all other fiber artists (over the age of 13) are invited to attend. Please note that this is not a knitting class for beginners, but instead an opportunity to share current projects with others and to learn tips and tricks. The group will meet this month on Thursday, November 7, at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, November 16, at 10:00 a.m., both dates in the Conference Room. No signup is required, so just come and bring your project. To get on the reminder email list, send a message to [email protected] or call the Reference Dept. at (617) 898-4964.
