Milton Police Department’s Prescription Drug Take Back Day to take place Saturday, Oct. 26
Milton Police Department urges residents to safely dispose of unused prescription medications on October 26, 2024
In an effort to promote safety and well-being within the community, the Milton Police Department is encouraging residents to dispose of unused prescription medications in a responsible manner. To make this process easier and more convenient, a 24/7 prescription drug drop-off kiosk is available in the lobby of the Milton Police Station, located at 40 Highland Street.
The department is particularly emphasizing participation in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which will take place on Saturday, October 26th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the same location. This annual event is designed to provide a safe, anonymous, and accessible way for individuals to rid their homes of unneeded medications, preventing them from falling into the wrong hands or being improperly discarded.
Why Safe Disposal Matters
Unused prescription drugs can pose significant dangers if left unattended in homes. They are a common target for misuse, especially among teens and young adults. By safely disposing of these medications, you are helping to prevent drug abuse, accidental overdoses, and environmental damage caused by improper disposal methods, such as flushing drugs down the toilet.
How to Participate
- Drop-off Location: Milton Police Station, 40 Highland Street
- Event Date & Time: Saturday, October 26th, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Alternatively, residents can take advantage of the 24/7 drop-off kiosk, which is available year-round in the police department lobby for convenience.
What to Bring
Prescription and over-the-counter medications, including tablets, capsules, and patches, will be accepted. However, liquids, needles, and other sharps are not allowed. All items can be dropped off anonymously—no questions asked.
Keeping Milton Safe
The Milton Police Department is committed to the safety and health of its residents. By participating in Prescription Drug Take Back Day or using the drop-off kiosk, you are playing a crucial role in keeping dangerous substances out of our community.
