Maritta Cronin honored with East Milton Neighborhood Association’s volunteer award

Maritta Cronin has been selected by the East Milton Neighborhood Association to receive the 2024 M. Joseph Manning Award for Community Service — the Association’s prestigious volunteer award for community service. A ceremony will be held in her honor on November 10th at Heritage Hall (114 Granite Ave) at 7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Cronin has dedicated countless hours to the local community for over sixty years. She has volunteered with and served on the boards of the Milton Farmers Market, Meals on Wheels, Milton Residences for the Elderly (MRE), The Village School, Milton Performing Arts, Friends of the Blue Hills, Brookwood Community Farm, Milton Hospital, and the Milton Campership Fund.

Mrs. Cronin’s town government service has included becoming an elected Town Meeting member shortly after becoming eligible and has continued for over sixty years. She also served on the Milton Warrant Committee for three years meeting thirty to forty times a year to provide guidance to Town Meeting on the town budget.

Mrs. Cronin grew up in Milton on Thatcher Farm. Her family has owned and operated Thatcher Farm since 1891. Over the years, she has shared the farm’s history by speaking at events for the Milton Historical Society and treating children who attended the Milton Farmers Market with a cup of Thatcher Farm chocolate milk.

The East Milton Neighborhood Association commends Maritta Cronin for all she has done to make Milton a great place to live, work, and raise a family. We hope many of you can join us on November 10th to celebrate this remarkable member of our community!
