Help bring smiles to kids!

Interfaith Social Services is seeking donations of new Halloween costumes for their annual Halloween Costume Drive. In October, the organization will distribute hundreds of costumes to the children served through their food pantry.

“Interfaith’s annual Halloween Costume Drive is a very special program; it demonstrates the synergy of our community working together to help their neighbors in need,” said Executive Director Rick Doane. “Our donors love picking out and purchasing costumes for the Drive. The kids receiving the costumes have such a great time combing through all of the different options and then getting to pick out their favorite one to take home. It is amazing to see the joy on their faces.”

Interfaith Social Services operates one of Greater Boston’s largest emergency food pantries, a mental health counseling center, Thrift Shop and homelessness prevention program. Since 1947, Interfaith Social Services has been a safety net for thousands of children and families from the South Shore who are trying to make ends meet.

Interfaith’s food pantry operates several seasonal initiatives throughout the year aimed at bringing joy to children who may be growing up in tough situations. During the Halloween Costume Drive, generous individuals and businesses donate hundreds of new Halloween costumes. In mid-October, client families are invited to a special day of “shopping” where their children can choose a costume.

“Bringing happiness to children who may be living in difficult situations is one of the founding principles of our organization,” said Doane. “We are so grateful for all the members of our community who make events like this possible.”

Interfaith Social Services needs your help to ensure that they have enough costumes to provide for all of the children they serve, aged 12 and under. Donations of new costumes and accessories can be dropped off at their building, located at 105 Adams St., Quincy, Monday-Friday, 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. and until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.

Costumes can also be purchased from an online Amazon Wish List (https://a.co/561uSLw) and shipped directly to Interfaith. Monetary donations are also welcome. More information about both options can be found at: interfaithsocialservices.org/halloween.

Costume donations need to be received by Friday, Oct. 11.

Questions about the program can be directed to Assistant Food Pantry Manager Leslie Wittmann at [email protected] or 617-773-6203, ext. 26.
