Council on Aging meeting scheduled for September 9
The Council on Aging (COA) will hold its next meeting on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at the COA building located at 10 Walnut Street in the classroom. The meeting will cover a variety of important topics, ranging from reports by various committees to updates on programs and upcoming events. The agenda is as follows:
1. Call to Order
The meeting will begin promptly with a call to order, setting the stage for discussions and updates.
2. Public Comments
Community members will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and concerns during the public comments section. This is an open forum for attendees to engage directly with the council.
3. Secretary’s Report
The Secretary’s Report will be presented, offering a recap of previous meetings and key actions taken.
4. Treasurer’s Report
A financial update will be provided, outlining the COA’s current financial status and any budgetary considerations.
5. Director’s Report
- A. Program Updates: The Director will share the latest information on ongoing and new programs.
- B. Upcoming Trips: Details about planned trips for members will be discussed.
- C. Fundraising Event:
- 1. Volunteers: The Director will address the need for volunteers to support the upcoming fundraising event.
6. Friends of COA
Doreen will provide updates on activities and initiatives from the Friends of COA, a group that supports the council’s mission through advocacy and fundraising.
7. SSE Report
Mary Ann will present the SSE (Senior Services Executive) report, detailing the latest senior service updates and initiatives.
8. Committee Reports
- A. Quality Control, Sara:
- 1. Farmers Market (9/12): Plans to promote COA as a center for active living at the Farmers Market on September 12 will be discussed.
- 2. Events and Attendance: Sara will provide insights into attendance trends and strategies for boosting engagement at COA events.
- B. Nominating Committee: A vote will be held to approve Marshall and Denise as voting members of the council.
- C. Reach Out, Marshall and Marge: Updates on outreach initiatives and community engagement efforts.
- D. Community Voices, Janet and Caroline: The committee will share feedback and insights gathered from community members.
- E. History of COA, David and Yvonne: A review of COA’s history and its impact on the community will be presented.
9. Old Business
Ongoing issues and projects from previous meetings will be revisited for updates and further discussion.
10. New Business
New items not previously discussed will be introduced, allowing for fresh ideas and planning.
