Milton superintendent releases updates for May 29, 2024
Dear MPS Community,
This time of year is always buzzing with excitement as the many culminating events of the year take place. From the Tucker Unity Night to Senior Awards Night to Bye, Bye Birdie, there is something happening every night of the week that is celebrating our students and their success. Thank you for coming out and sharing in the excitement of learning and growth at all of our schools!
I’ve been reflecting on these events, and I have to say that it has been so inspiring to see the degree of support and energy that has been present to lift up our students and their achievements. I have been particularly moved by all of the interactions between students and all of the adults that are present to support them. In the trajectory of a student’s career at Milton Public Schools, this unfettered, unequivocal outpouring of positivity is pivotal to everything that happens in their lives.
One of the themes this year from the outreach I’ve done has been increasing communication and making our schools more accessible and collaborative by being more intentional in bringing in the untapped resource of our families and community members. As we complete and finalize our implementation plan at the end of this academic year, we’ll bring this intentionality to the interface between school and community to consider how we can be more connected to meet the needs of every student in our schools.
To that end, all are invited to a community conversation on June 10 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the Pierce Cafeteria to close out the year and provide a chance for community members to connect with members of the MPS Leadership Team, chat about the Priority Report, and engage on all the things that matter in our schools. We look forward to seeing many of you and hearing from stakeholders as we continue to build forward.
Finally, I wanted to share on a community note that I completed the “Bike Every Road in Milton” project. Below is a map that shows the roads I’ve traveled. It was great to see our whole town, on two wheels, and the many people who make this such a special place.
Thank you for being a part of Milton Public Schools!
With gratitude,
Peter Burrows, D.Ed.
