Rob Levash announces candidacy for Milton Parks Commissioner

I am running for the open seat for Milton Parks Commissioner. My family has called Milton home for the past 16 years, and we are proud to be active and engaged members of the community. I currently serve on the Milton Softball Executive Board and as a Town Meeting Member in Precinct 10. Two years ago, I was appointed by the Select Board to the newly formed Community Preservation Committee and then elected Chair by my peers on the Committee. My wife Jaime is a Library Trustee, a member of the Milton Youth Task Force, President of Milton Soccer, and a Town Meeting Member in Precinct 10. Our daughters, Gabby and Reese, attend Pierce & Collicot Schools and participate in many Parks & Recreation activities. Through these experiences, I have gained firsthand knowledge of existing community resources and opportunities for growth.

In my role as Chair of the Community Preservation Committee, I worked closely with town leadership to allocate state and municipal funds to advance community housing, historic preservation, and open space and recreation projects. Our committee was able to invest $605,000 for Open Space & Recreation projects. These projects include Turner’s Pond improvements, Wharf Park improvements, Peverly Park playground studies, Mary C Lane baseball improvements, Middle Gile sports LED lighting, pickleball court studies, and the Pope’s Pond pedestrian bridge project. In 2023, as a member of Milton’s Softball Board, I spearheaded a grant application for Kelly Field dugouts for Babe Ruth and Milton Softball. My work on both the Community Preservation Committee as well as the Softball Board has given me a bird’s eye view of the needs and possibilities of Milton’s Parks & Recreation Department.

If elected as a Parks Commissioner, my priorities will be:

  • To create a Recreational Master Plan to evaluate our existing community resources and expansion possibilities.
  • To connect with all community youth sports and programs for their input on how the Parks & Recreation Department can continue to support and grow their programs.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Task Force to better understand how Parks & Recreation can support their mission.
  • Improve and promote safe, walkable access to community recreation areas, walking trails, and community resources.
  • Promote ecological protection, restoration, and sustainability measures for our existing natural resources in the face of climate change.
  • To build community by bringing people of all ages, cultures, and abilities together.

I am proud to call Milton home. I’m excited for the opportunity to serve the Town as a Parks Commissioner.  I ask for your support and vote on April 30th.

Thank You,

Rob Levash
