Mary Elizabeth Riffe announces candidacy for Town Meeting Member for Precinct 3
As a 26 year resident, my commitment to Milton is deep – I have served as a Town Meeting Member since 2018 and have never missed a meeting. I was a MPL trustee and led the Search Committee that selected our current Library director, Will Adamczyk. I led Girl Scout troops for 14 years, belong to the Milton Garden Club since 2006 and also served as its treasurer and board member. I belong to St. Michael’s where I serve on Parish Life. Outside Milton, I have been a docent at the MFA since 2002.
I am married for 41 years to an Eagle Scout and we have three Milton Public School educated children. Griffith is an Air Force Captain, Elizabeth is an investment analyst and Gold Award recipient, and Eliot is a Computer Science major who is also an Eagle Scout.
Mass General Brigham employed me for 35 years where I held multiple leadership roles and retired as a system vice president.
We live in a special community that has many volunteer organizations through which we demonstrate our care for one another. These include our houses of worship, sports, museums/historical sites, clean ups, fundraisers, musical and theatrical events.
Caring for others is what I do and who I am. I listen and value the perspectives of everyone – especially on issues that affect us all such as how we spend and use our resources.
We as a town face many challenges – the MBTA Communities lawsuit, future replacement of the multiple millions in one time funds received from ARPA in our budget, the third firehouse, state review of the Gile Road land swap, and zoning are a few examples. Please contact me at [email protected] to share your thoughts on these issues and any others.
To address our community challenges in a principled and fiscally responsible way, I ask for your re-election vote for me as a Precinct 3 Town Meeting member on Tuesday, April 30. Thank you.
