Hal Munger announces candidacy for Town Meeting Member for Precinct 7

When asked why I’m running for Town Meeting, I’m reminded of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s timeless words: “To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived – that is to have succeeded.” With this guiding principle in mind, fueled by empathy and a genuine desire to elevate our community, I announce my candidacy for Town Meeting Member from Precinct 7, seeking your vote on April 30th.

As a parent deeply invested in Milton’s future, with three boys in or soon to enter Milton Public Schools, education is my top priority. I’m dedicated to supporting our educators, ensuring top-notch facilities, and fostering an environment where every student can thrive and discover their full potential. Collaborating with others, I’m eager to explore effective solutions to bolster our schools and provide equitable opportunities for all students.

Beyond education, addressing traffic congestion and neighborhood safety presents challenges, but I’m committed to seeking innovative solutions that prioritize safety and community input. Every resident deserves to feel secure, and I’m dedicated to listening and advocating for measures that enhance our well-being. Despite constraints like cut-through traffic, collaborative and creative efforts can make significant strides in tackling these concerns.

I am a licensed architect and am active in the Milton community by leading my firm’s skills-based volunteering efforts at places such as New England Base Camp in the Blue Hills. With this in mind, I understand the vital role sustainability plays in our town’s future. It’s imperative that we prioritize environmentally-conscious practices and ensure new projects contribute positively to Milton’s long-term vitality. By aligning our growth with environmental goals, we can build a thriving community while safeguarding our natural resources.

Your voice is crucial in shaping Milton’s trajectory, and I pledge to be an advocate for inclusive solutions at Town Meeting. Let’s come together in collaboration, empathy, and progress to build a stronger, more vibrant Milton for all residents.
