Jessica H. McDaniel announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 2
If you recognize my name, that could be because we’ve crossed paths in the decades I’ve lived here in town and the 20 years that I’ve owned Boston Baby Photos. Perhaps we met recently, when I photographed 108 local families during the pandemic for my Milton Front Steps Project, which raised nearly $5,000 in donations for the Milton Art Center. I’m also a founding member of Connect Milton, a new group created to foster Milton community connection centered around diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and civic engagement. (www.connectmilton.org.)
I’m running for Town Meeting because I’m a passionate supporter of our schools, teachers, and administrators, and I want to help promote positive dialogue and collaboration within the community.
I grew up in Milton in the 1980s, went to Glover, Milton Academy, and Connecticut College, and then got my MBA at Boston University. My husband and I moved back to Milton 17 years ago. Our younger daughter is in Milton High’s class of 2027, and her sister will start Wesleyan University in the fall.
When I think of what I might be able to do as a town meeting member, I remember the words of a friend who went to Glover with me back in the day and lives in Milton now: “A town is made of the people in it today,” she said, “and that town stays healthy by adapting and making the right kinds of changes.”
P2 neighbors, I hope you’ll consider voting for me on April 30th.
