Amanda Serio announces candidacy for Milton School Committee
Dear Milton friends and neighbors,
I’m excited to announce my candidacy for Milton School Committee Member. I am passionate about fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students, ensuring that they have the tools and resources needed to be successful, and I look forward to bringing this passion and my experience to the School Committee.
I believe that I have a unique combination of experiences that would be of value to the School Committee. As a two-term member of the town’s Warrant Committee, I have gained an understanding of the town budget process and the challenges we face in funding our schools and our town services, particularly given our limited sources of revenue. As a special education advocate by profession, I’ve had the privilege of working with students with diverse learning needs, their families, educators, and administrators. This has deepened my understanding of the challenges these students face and provided me with invaluable insights into the strategies and resources necessary to support their growth and development.
More about me:
- Milton Resident since 2004
- Mom/Stepmom to 3 boys: Jack (27) Enzo (16) and Rocco (16)
- Founder of Always Advocating, Special Education Advocacy
- 20+ years of leadership experience for companies such as JPMorgan, Full Contact Advertising, and Suffolk Construction
- Former Chair and longtime member of the Milton Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC)
- Co-founder of Milton Sports For All
- 2-term Warrant Committee Member
- Chair of the Warrant Committee School Budget Subcommittee
As a School Committee Member, I am committed to:
- Enhancing educational opportunities for all students.
- Supporting our dedicated educators and staff.
- Promoting transparency and open communication.
- Advocating for responsible fiscal management to maximize resources for student success.
I believe that by working collaboratively together, we can continue to build a school system that prepares all MPS students for a successful future. I am eager to listen to your concerns, ideas, and suggestions and I am excited about the prospect of serving our community on our School Committee.
