Zofia B. Knowles to showcase painting exhibit at Milton Public Library in October
From October 2 -31, 2023, the Milton Public Library will host the work of a talented local artist in our Wotiz Gallery. This display will show paintings by prolific painter Zofia B. Knowles and will include many landscapes including beach scenes, images of people, and more. These works express Ms. Knowles’ interpretation of travel visually, in an exhibit called: “My Favorite Places and People There.”
This artist works with acrylics and her paintings are colorful, somewhat whimsical at times, and just a joy to see! Zofia was born in a camp for displaced people in Bielawa, Poland. She lived between Israel and Poland until 1963 when she emigrated to the United States and she has been painting ever since!
Her background includes many years teaching in the Boston Public Schools and a career working at architectural firms in the Boston area. Zofia holds a Masters in Education from Cambridge College, a Bachelors of Architecture from the Boston Architectural Center, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tufts University’s Boston Museum School. Following is what she says about her painting.
First she quotes Edward Hopper who said: “The only real influence I’ve ever had was myself.” And then she adds: “All real influences I have ever had are everything and everybody. I hope my paintings express real happiness. For I love all beautiful people, and all beautiful places.”
There will be a free and open reception held in the gallery on Tuesday, 10/3, from 6-8 PM, so please stop by, meet the artist, and view her lovely work. We hope to see you there!
