Mike’s 5K to Crush Substance Abuse to take place Oct. 14 2023 in Milton
Mike’s 5K to Crush Substance Abuse will take place this year on October 14, 2023 in Milton, Massachusetts.
Started in 2017, this annual 5K walk and run raises money for substance use disorder prevention and treatment programs benefitting a variety of organizations including the Milton Coalition, Bay State Community Services, the Gavin Foundation, the Laboure Center, the Boston Bulldogs Running Club and the Grayken Center. More than $490,000 has been donated to these organizations since 2017.
Says Dianne Mulcahy, the mother of Michael Mulcahy, whom the race is named after: “My involvement in Mike’s 5K keeps the memory of Michael alive. This event is all about families and individuals going through the awful disease of addiction. I know Michael is with us every race day and pushing us all along to a successful finish!” Michael Mulcahy passed in 2016 after a ten-year battle against substance use disorder.
Nancy Jesson, the mother of Mike Jesson, who, with her husband, Bob Jesson, are among the biggest fundraisers and supporters of the annual race says, “We are so proud to support the fight against substance abuse and carry on the memory of our beautiful son!”
Doors at the Cunningham and Collicot Schools on Edge Hill Road in Milton will open at 9:00 a.m. and the 5K begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. Register and donate at mikesfivek.org.
