Tom Sharkey announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 5
I’m Tom Sharkey and I’m running for election to Town Meeting from Precinct 5, Milton, MA.
My wife, Eileen, and I moved to Milton two years ago after raising our children in Andover, north of Boston. During this time, I’ve come to appreciate the history, diversity and civic engagement of the people of Milton. In Andover, I was active in several community groups and would like to continue that involvement here in Milton.
I’ve served both urban and suburban Massachusetts communities as a teacher, a high school principal, and an assistant superintendent. I currently work part-time as a Program Supervisor in Tufts University’s MAT Program and have also recently served as a teacher “coach” at Nativity Prep in Jamaica Plain.
Eileen and I have three married sons and six grandchildren. Our son, Brendan, was the MTA Representative for Milton for many years and always spoke highly of our schools and teachers.
As a “Baby Boomer”, I believe that those of us who no longer have full-time careers can be of great service to our communities. I have the time and the energy to become engaged in the issues that we face in Milton, to listen to various viewpoints, and to make decisions at Town Meeting that serve our community best.
Precinct Five Voters – I would be honored to serve you and I ask for your vote on April 25th.
