Marc Johnson announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting, Precinct 7

Hello Neighbors:

I am thrilled to announce my candidacy to become a Milton Town Meeting Member for Precinct 7. I have lived in Milton with my wife, Liveda, and our son, Oliver (7), since 2013. You might have seen us walking up Church Street heading to dinner in East Milton Square. More likely, you have seen me riding my bike around the neighborhood trying to keep up with Oliver!

I care about our town and our neighbors. I know you do too. Milton has such promise! With your support, I want to help realize our shared dream for a thriving community. With your vote, I will champion a plan for our schools that supports all students toward great outcomes after high school. With your input, I will support policies that cultivate a robust and vibrant business community that reflects our interests and supports the things we care about in town. Working together with you, I will help nurture the town quality that makes Milton so special: the sense of neighborliness where everyone feels like they matter.

If elected, my commitment is to bring a listening ear and practical experience to Town Meeting:

• I am an accomplished higher education professional. I have deep experience working with stakeholders to find solutions to complex issues.
• I hold a doctoral degree in education. Milton schools have challenges. I am skilled in using data to support decision making to address those challenges.
• I am a committed community volunteer. I am a trustee at a Boston-area college and tasked with financial oversight. This means I understand financial statements, P&L’s, and budget forecasts.
• I am a devoted father. I serve on the PTO board at Tucker Elementary.

I have led or co-led the school’s annual fair so that my son and his schoolmates can enjoy the friendships and community that we want for every child in Milton.
