Jeanne Burns announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting, Precinct 3
My name is Jeanne Burns and I am running for a two year term as a Precinct 3 Town Meeting Member. My family and I have lived in Miton for 13 years and until we moved this past September I proudly represented Precinct 6 as a Town Meeting Member for 10 years. We have two school-aged children and our oldest is now a freshman at Milton High School.
I support the Land Swap because I have seen first hand how overcrowded our schools have been since our children started their schooling at Collicot. I also believe, after seeing many presentations, that the School Building Committee has done a thorough, fair and exhaustive search to try to find the best options for our school. In the past I have spoken up many times about the traffic issues we as a town have to face to keep our children safe from cut-through traffic.
I would urge the town to continue to push the Mass DOT for traffic calming measures and to create a safe solution for Rte 28/ Randolph Ave that has seen more than its fair share of serious and deadly accidents. I also believe the town needs to be more aggressive with our non-profit entities in town by pushing for more PILOT payments to help support our town’s growing budgetary needs.
I hope that I can count on a vote from my new Precinct 3 neighbors.
