Dr. Beth Molnar announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 3
Candidate announcement for Dr. Beth Molnar, running for re-election as a Town Meeting Member in Precinct 3. I am proud to share my candidacy to represent Precinct 3 as a Town Meeting Member. I have lived in Milton since 2005. My husband Michael Munsey is running for a seat too. We have a 15-year-old son who was in the Milton Public Schools (Glover, Pierce) starting from kindergarten, and now goes to Milton Academy as a 9th grader. I am a researcher and professor of public health/epidemiology at Northeastern University, where I study the impacts of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and other types of traumas on youth development and on the mental health of those who assist survivors, as well as ways to prevent these and other types of violence.
I also serve on the Board of Directors of the nonprofit Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC), where I was previously a volunteer for seven years and the Board President for five years. Running research projects, directing a thriving PhD program, and being a fiduciary board director for a nonprofit are relevant experiences I bring to town government, in addition to being a Milton parent for 15 years, a resident for 18 years, a Town Meeting Member for 1 year, and a volunteer across many political campaigns for 30 years. I would really appreciate your vote on April 25th. Many thanks.
I am running for re-election as Town Meeting Members in Precinct 3 for many reasons, including:
- We live in a neighborhood that has seen wonderful growth over the years we have been here (nearby Steel and Rye is a favorite!) We would like to be a part of the decisions that are made to keep thoughtful growth happening in town.
- We support the Milton Public Schools and all that they did for our son – and we would like to see the schools continue to improve and thrive. We believe this is good for all of us living in Milton, whether or not we have children in the schools. We strongly support recommendations for a new school building and thank the School Building Committee for their hard work the past four years.
- Milton is a diverse and vibrant community – we support all efforts to keep it that way. It will be an honor to continue working on initiatives that push for equality and inclusion for all residents/all precincts.
