“A Season to Savor” documentary featuring Milton Wildcats to take place April 13
The Milton Public Library is happy to announce a public artist talk/reception supporting the current photography exhibition by Milton photographer John Gillooly.
The event will be held in the lower level of the Milton Public Library from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13.
At 7:00 p.m. there will be a showing of the documentary “A Season to Savor” which follows the 2022 Milton Wildcats through the entire season. Immediately following the documentary at 7:30 p.m., there will be a discussion with photographer John Gillooly and Head Coach Steve Dembowski, moderated by Michael Vega, Boston Globe sports writer and producer of the documentary.
The photography show features 24 large black & white metal prints from a seven-day personal project following the Milton Wildcats Football team as they prepared for and played in the State Championship Game at Gillette Stadium this past December.
John Gillooly is a professional photographer who has lived in Milton since 2004. Much of his career has focused on large sporting events, photographed from the marketing and sponsorship perspective. Clients include Mastercard, BMW, Cisco, ADP, UPS, Lexus and Wyndham Worldwide at events ranging from the Sydney Olympic Games and French Open, World Series and Super Bowls, to golf events such as the Masters, US Open, BMW Championship, Arnold Palmer Invitational and Wyndham Championship.
Steve Dembowski just completed his 8th season as the Milton head football coach. His teams have won five Bay State Herget Championships, the 2015 Southwest sectional championship and competed in the 2022 Super Bowl. Prior to coming to Milton, Steve was the head coach in Swampscott for 16 years. He led the Big Blue to four league championships and 3 Super Bowls, winning the 2007 D3 Title.
Michael Vega is a Milton resident who has worked as a Boston Globe sportswriter for three decades. He is host and producer of the local sports show “Steppin’ Up to the Plate” on Milton Access TV, and has served as the play-by-play voice of Milton High football. He also wrote and narrated the MATV original documentary “A Season To Savor,” the story of the 2022 Milton High football team.
