Nature’s Best Hope: A New Approach to Conservation That Starts in Your Yard – discussion to take place March 16
As part of “Milton Grows,” a year-long initiative for all ages focused on gardening and sustainability, there will be several March programs. The first is a virtual book discussion on Thursday, 3/16, at 7:00 p.m. called: Nature’s Best Hope: A New Approach to Conservation That Starts in Your Yard with Tucker Smith of Sustainable Milton. Gather round via Zoom to talk about a hypothetical, new National Park. Everyone with a container of potting soil, a balcony, a patio, or a yard can take action to create this, thereby making our planet better. Join Tucker to see interesting wildlife and landscape photos, and place a reserve on the book to read in advance, by calling the Reference Dept. at (617) 898-4964 or going online using your library card.
The second event is an in person workshop on Saturday, 3/18, starting at 2:30 p.m. in the Keys Community Room and it is called “Starting Seeds Indoors.” Join Tower Hill instructor Christie Higginbottom to learn about how to begin to grow from seed, as she will teach us which crops work best, the supplies needed and when to start, as well as how to manage growing seedlings, harden them off and transplant them to the garden. Registration for this in person event is required and limited.
This “Milton Grows” event is funded by the federal Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the MBLC, and supported by our partners Sustainable Milton and the Friends of the Milton Public Library. We hope to see you for an enjoyable program in March!
