Camila Chaparro announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 4/4A

Dear neighbors,

My name is Camila Chaparro and I am happy to announce my candidacy for Town Meeting in Precinct 4/4A (Milton, MA). I’ve lived in Milton with my husband, Paul Cichello, and our two sons, Peter and Silas, for 10 years. During that time, we’ve come to love many aspects of our town: our caring neighbors; the Pine Tree Brook where we walk our dog; the volunteer-run sports organizations for our kids; the library that provides so much more than books; the Blue Hills and Neponset bike path right down the road; and Tucker Elementary, where our children are welcomed and nurtured.

I am running for Town Meeting because I want to be an active participant in the decisions that shape our town’s future, and contribute to practical solutions to the challenges we face. As a parent, providing our public schools with the resources they need to allow our children to grow and thrive academically is critical. I support building a new school to address the significant overcrowding happening districtwide. As a taxpayer and resident, I believe we need a more balanced approach towards commercial development, allowing us to broaden our tax base and provide needed amenities for our community.

If elected, I look forward to applying skills and experiences from my professional and personal lives to my role as a Town Meeting member. I am an active volunteer in my children’s school, as well as in the Pine Tree Brook Neighborhood, supporting and enhancing these wonderful communities. In my current work in food media, as well as in the previous decade I spent conducting global health research, collaborative and creative problem solving and close attention to detail have been part of my day-to-day job. As a founding member of my workplace union, I have experience listening to coworkers’ opinions and concerns, and working together to achieve shared goals for the common good. Finally, I personally know how challenging it can be to understand how town government works, how to have input in important decisions, and how to stay informed. I am constantly learning, and I pledge to be an engaged, conscientious, and accessible Town Meeting member. Please be in touch.
