Scott, Amundsen, and Shackleton – The Race for the Pole presentation to take place Nov. 1

On Tuesday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m., Historian Bob Begin will be back in person in the Keys Community Room to give a presentation called “Scott, Amundsen, and Shackleton – The Race for the Pole.”  In 1900, Antarctica represented the last major, unexplored, unclaimed region of the world.  England, with her quest for Empire, felt it was her duty to explore and claim this region.

Come and view Bob’s fascinating images as he tells us more about this interesting and dangerous trek to conquer Antarctica.  Mr. Begin is an avid history fan and devotes his research to interesting and inspiring topics from American chronology. This event will also be available for viewing later at the Milton Access Cable website.  Please sign up in advance to attend at our website.  We hope you might be able to join us for this interesting presentation!

Our programs are kindly sponsored by our Friends group, are free and open to the public, and some events are also supported by those grant-making agencies mentioned above and by Sustainable Milton.  For more information about any program, please Email [email protected] or call the Reference Dept. at (617) 898-4964.  We encourage you to come visit us for a fun event in November!
