Select Board April 6: 360 Tree Initiative, School Building Committee Update and More
360 Tree Initiative Ribbon Cutting
Save the date of June 4, 2022, for the tree planting and ribbon cutting closing ceremonies as the Shade Tree Advisory Committee concludes the Milton 360 Tree Initiative which is raising money to plant an extra 360 shade trees in town in honor of Milton’s 360th anniversary. More details for this small, but important event will be forthcoming.
Annual Town Meeting discussion
Town Moderator, Bob Hiss, joined for a follow up discussion regarding the recent Special Town Meeting held on March 14 and March 16. The ADU article generated much discussion and feedback from citizens. Much of the feedback was centered around issues with the language and the process. It was also noted that having clarification on roles for citizens would be helpful to have at the beginning of the meetings, as this will act as a constructive refresher for all.
School Building Committee update

A few sites have been viewed as potential locations for future school building. Members of the School Building Committee, Milton Conservation Committee and some neighbors took part in a site walk last month on property located on Gile Road that is a potential building site location. The parcel on Gile Road is being proposed as a land swap. An article is on the May Town Warrant in which the Select Board is in support of.
Town Administrator search
Mary Aicardi, from the Collins Center for Public Management, joined to discuss the process and the plan for moving forward in the search. The initial plan is to work with the search and screening committee in place to develop a candidate profile. The hope is to work quickly to fill the role.

Additional items of discussion
Thank you to former Select Board member, Joe McEttrick, for the donation of the Ukrainian flag to Milton. He has requested that the flag be displayed above the Gazebo by Town Hall.
The next Select Board meeting is scheduled to take place on April 13.
