Roxanne Musto announces candidacy for Milton Select Board
I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Milton Select Board, and welcome the opportunity to bring a transparent, collaborative approach to the Board where all voices are heard.
I am a proud graduate of the Milton Public Schools and a lifelong Milton resident. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Boston University, I worked as a nurse before returning to college at Northeastern University for a Masters Degree. As a practicing Nurse practitioner, I care for elderly patients in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
My husband Anthony and I have been so fortunate to have raised our sons Michael and Brandon here. Working while raising two boys can be tough, but when opportunities came up to give back to the town that I love so dearly, I wholeheartedly embraced them. When my two sons attended Tucker school, I became involved with Tucker PTO. I also was one of the founding members of the Outdoor Classrooms established at our public schools. Further, I was on the Milton Foundation for Education & often served on the subcommittee for the Teacher of the Year Awards. And I was on the MPACE committee which brings cultural arts & music to the schools. Our schools are a great town asset, and as your Select Board member, it will be a priority to work hand in hand with our school committee to ensure that our schools continue to provide an excellent and world class education for our students.
I have also had the opportunity to serve on various town committees, including the Warrant Committee, Airplane Noise Advisory Committee, Tax-Exempt Steering Committee & Wireless Telecommunications Committee. I am also active in my neighborhood association and serve on its Board. Further, I have been a Town Meeting Member since 2001 & currently serve as Chair of the Milton Board of Health.
The culmination of these experiences has instilled in me a strong belief that we need to listen to viewpoints of all residents, work together, respect others, and collaborate for the best outcomes. There are many issues that the Town faces including overcrowded schools, costs of construction for the fire stations and proposed animal shelter, continued construction in East Milton, as well as an extensive list of proposed 40B projects, to name a few. I look forward to working with residents, listening to their concerns & finding collaborative, consensus driven solutions.
Milton is a wonderful town with much to offer- its rich history, beautiful green space, proximity to Boston, its schools, and the diverse neighborhoods and residents that make our town special. Let’s work together to embrace all that Milton has to offer to keep Milton one of the best towns to live in. Please visit my website (roxanne4milton.com) and social media pages (@roxanne4milton) to become involved. I respectfully ask for your vote on Tuesday, April 26th.
