Michael Perrone announces candidacy for re-election to Milton Town Meeting, Precinct 1
My name is Michael Perrone, and I am pleased to announce my candidacy for reelection as Town Meeting Member for Precinct 1.
When my husband and I made the decision to move our family to Milton four years ago, we were looking for a quiet, welcoming place to raise our son. We liked Milton’s diversity, its public schools, and its location. What surprised us was the sense of community that abounds here at every level. From our neighbors to the tight-knit community at Tucker that we’ve become a part of to the network of friends and acquaintances we’ve built all across town, we have been struck not only by people’s warmth, but by their pride and commitment to this town.
As a homeowner, a taxpayer, and a parent, I understand first hand the impact of responsible town government. From finance to zoning to matters of equity and inclusion, Town Meeting helps to shape the community we live in.
I believe it is critical that Town Meeting operates in a manner that not only benefits current residents but also looks towards the needs of the future. As the saying goes, “the only thing certain is change,” and Town Meeting Members are responsible for having an eye toward the long term and ensuring that our town is proactively planning for its future.
I am running for reelection because I care deeply about the future of Milton. I want to make sure this community we all love continues to thrive. From a practical perspective, the taxes we pay are an investment in our community, and I want to know that our collective investment goes as far as it can.
I want to see Milton grow its commercial tax base in a way that is mindful of both the town’s character and its future needs. How we as a town handle issues such as the current school space crunch and our insufficient affordable housing stock can have major impacts on both our quality of life and our town’s financial resources. How can we get ahead of issues like these going forward? This is how I approach voting in every town meeting: are we solving just for now or for the long term?
I have spent my entire career as a project manager. Looking for risks and opportunities ahead is in my nature. Just as I do in my work life, I bring a commitment to process, transparency, and efficiency to the role of Town Meeting Member.
If you are as committed as I am to improving not just Milton’s present but also its future, please vote for me as your Precinct 1 Town Meeting Member on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
