Milton bassist John Sullivan’s jazz quartet to appear at First Parish on October 23rd, 2021
Mandorla Music is pleased to present the John Sullivan Quartet on Saturday, October 23rd, in concert in the sanctuary at First Parish Milton. This is the second of two fall jazz concerts highlighting Milton talent and made possible in part by Milton Cultural Council.
Bassist John Sullivan grew up in Wisconsin, the son of a jazz guitarist. He started gigging at a young age, and was already years into a professional career by the time he landed at the New England Conservatory in the late 90s. Following NEC, he spent nearly 20 fruitful years in NYC, playing with a who’s who of modern jazz luminaries, including touring the world with the legendary Boston-born drummer Roy Haynes.
After John and his family moved to Milton in 2017, he quickly became a first-call bassist on Boston’s jazz scene, and appears regularly with tenor giant Jerry Bergonzi, among others.
John’s band for the concert will include frequent collaborator pianist Dan Pappas, guitarist Mitch Selib and drummer Charles Haynes aka Chally Mikes, whose career as a performer and producer includes time spent working with a host of jazz greats as well as pop stars like Lady Gaga, Kanye West and Ed Sheeran.
This concert will feature Sullivan’s original compositions, including work from his forthcoming album Fan Bass.
Tickets are $20 ($10 for 18 and under), and are available at mandorlamusic.net and at the door. Note that in the interest of safety, capacity will be limited and masks will be required.
