Diabetes Self-Management Education Workshop
Wednesday, July 14, 21, 28 & Aug. 4, 11 & 18
Time: 01:00 p.m. – 03:30 p.m.
This FREE 6-week workshop, developed by Stanford University Medical Center, is an evidence based self-management program for those living with or caring for someone with diabetes or pre-diabetes to learn skills to prevent, manage and cope with the disease.
Trained diabetes educators from the South Shore YMCA will assist participants and cover the following topics:
- Make better decisions about your diabetes.
- Help you to advocate to get the support you need.
- Understand how to take care of yourself and learn the skills to help you eat healthy, be active, check your blood sugar (glucose), take your medicine, solve problems, and cope with the emotional side of diabetes.
- Reduce your risk of developing other health problems.
This program is sponsored by Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton and will be held in person at the Milton COA, 10 Walnut Street, Milton, MA. It is open to Milton residents aged 60 and over. Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants have the option to receive a free, 6-week membership, courtesy of the hospital to the South Shore YMCA in Quincy, to better assist you in achieving a healthy lifestyle.
