Two new articles accepted for May 3 Annual Town Meeting Warrant – Mar. 15 Select Board Update
The Select Board met to discuss the acceptance of two articles into the May 3 Annual Town Meeting Warrant. The articles discussed were as follows:
432 Adams St. purchase for the proposed site of a new fire station building
The objective is to present the article for approval with the purchase and sale of a portion of the land at 432 Adams St., grant and accept any easements, and allow Milton to borrow any necessary funds. The Select Board motioned to accept this article with slight changes.
Citizen’s Petition, trash and recycle barrel reminder
As worded, this new article is quite broad, as it discusses rules and regulations, and timing reminders for bringing trash cans out prior to trash retrieval, and also for bringing them back in. These timing reminders would need to be addressed with special legislation. The article will still go to the Warrant, as well as to Town Meeting vote. The board agreed that the petition belongs to the citizens who sign it. The Select Board motioned to accept this article.
During this brief meeting, the Select Board also touched upon the FY22 budget amendments. Their discussion determined that the use of one-time funds is wise as well as seeking state aid assistance when available and applicable. More information is to be presented at future meetings.
