MPS Family Tech Support Group created for families looking for answers to school technology questions
A group of Milton Public Schools volunteers created this social media group as an unofficial resource for families looking for answers to technology questions during the school year.
Got questions?
You are encouraged to visit the the Family Technology Support site provided by the district as a first step. We hope that families can be a resource for other families as we all endure this most unprecedented of school years.
Here are some initial Q and As from the group:
Question: Is there really a Chromebook for everyone? In other words, if I need one, can I get one?
Answer: Yes! All students across the district will receive a Chromebook
Question: Can my kid bring their own device to school?
Answer: It depends. PreK through 8th-grade students are not allowed to bring their own device to school. Only Milton High School students can bring device to the building
Question: Is there going to be a place where students can leave their MPS Chromebook at school? Is there a place to leave them?
Answer: Families will be able to leave their school-issued Chromebook in their classroom
Question: If I borrowed a loaner Chromebook in the Spring and I still need one for this upcoming year, do I have to return this Chromebook or can I just use it for this upcoming year?
Answer: You must return Chromebook you borrowed in the Spring back to the MHS main office as soon as possible (Chromebooks were due back to the district on August 3). The Chromebook will be updated, cleaned, and when needed, fixed. Each family will receive a Chromebook back.
Question: What headphones should I buy?
Answer: The district has purchased earbuds with mics for devices with a 3.5 mm jack (standard with Chromebooks). Families should be hearing from their respective schools soon regarding distribution of these headphones.
