Apple cash settlement available for iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7 or 7 Plus
If you owned or still have (cough, cough… this author) one several older iPhone models, you may be eligible for cash from the ubiquitous red delicious.
As part of a proposed settlement over Apple deliberately preventing chips in older iPhones from reaching their full processing power under certain conditions (nope, you weren’t imagining it), the company has agreed to make payments that will likely break down to about $25 per claim – and who doesn’t want an extra $25?
Here are the qualifying phones:
- Owners of an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, or an iPhone SE that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later before December 21, 2017
- Owners of an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus that ran iOS 11.2 or later before December 21, 2017
Note: you do not need to currently be using the qualifying phone.
Here’s what you need to do:
File your claim at SmartphonePerformanceSettlement.com.
You just need the serial number for your device. If you no longer have your iPhone, you can check the barcode on your device’s original packaging or refer to the original receipt or invoice (hint: search your email).
If you are or were the owner of more than one of the affected devices, you can file a claim for each device and get cash or each.
All claims must be submitted by October 6, 2020.
