Voting by mail is available to all voters for all elections in 2020.
You do not need an excuse to vote by mail this year!
The Massachusetts State Primary is Tuesday, September 1, 2020
The State and National Election is Tuesday, November 3, 2020
To vote by mail, all you need to do is:
- Complete a Vote by Mail Application;
- Deliver your application to your local election office;
- Vote when your ballot arrives;
- Return your ballot.
Applications must reach your local election office by August 26 for the State Primary. Applications must reach your local election office by October 28 for the State Election.
State Primary ballots need to be back at your local election office by 8 p.m. on September 1.
State Election ballots need to be postmarked no later than November 3 and must be back at your local election office no later than November 6.
Ways to submit a request for an absentee or early voting by mail ballot by mail
Fax the signed absentee Vote by Mail Application to 617-696-6995 or mail it to Town Clerk, 525 Canton Ave., Milton, MA 02186.
A hand-written signature must be visible.
The legal deadline to file a request for an absentee or early voting by mail ballot is August 26 for the State primary, but realistically voters should allow plenty of extra time for mail delivery in both directions.
Apply early, in order to have enough time to return your ballot.

Nov. 3 State/National Election Voter Registration Deadline: Sat Oct 24, 2020 – 8:00 p.m.
Once you’re registered to vote and remain at the same address, there is no need to register again.
