The Urban Grape Wine Studies Award for Students of Color
The Urban Grape is commemorating its 10 year business anniversary by launching The Urban Grape Wine Studies Award for Students of Color on June 22, 2020.
This program is meant to increase opportunities for professionals of color who want to advance in the wine industry. It combines education, work experience, and mentorship to help prepare students of color for successful careers in the wine industry.
Recipients will be sent through all four levels of study at Boston University’s Certificate Program in Wine Studies. The coursework for this program is led by two Masters of Wine – the world’s most prestigious and difficult certification to receive.
They will also have the opportunity to complete three paid industry internships while they complete their coursework. The internships will take place at The Urban Grape, MS Walker, and Big Heart Hospitality.
Lastly, recipients will also benefit from mentorship opportunities. TJ Douglas, owner of The Urban Grape, will act as the primary mentor and other industry leaders will provide support as needed.
Applicants must be 21 years or older at the time of application and be in geographic proximity to attend classes on Boston University campus and work in Boston-area internships.
The deadline for applications is August 15, 2020. Questions about the application process can be directed to [email protected].
