Milton Neighbor sets up tutoring service to match high school and college students with kids in grades 1-8
Together with her mom, Christine Fiske, Bella Fiske (grade 9) is working to connect local tutors with students in need of academic help.
We know that this is a challenging time for everyone, particularly for parents with overlapping responsibilities of parenting, working, and educating their kids. We also know that for teens they’re unable to work, see friends, and after their schoolwork is done, they still have quite a bit of free time.
Our idea is to match high school and college students with kids in grades 1-8 to help provide tutoring or an additional lesson to keep them engaged and learning. The hope is that it’s a valuable and fun experience on both sides, and given all of the fantastic kids of all ages in Milton, the idea is simply to help each other out.
We’ve set up 2 sign up sheets – one for parents of 1-8th graders, and another for high school and college-age kids who want to participate.
We’re proposing there not be any obligation to pay, however, if parents of younger kids want to tip/pay the older tutor/mentor, they should feel free to do so (and we’ll provide venmo/details on how they can be paid).
We’ll match needs as best we can.
Any questions, please feel free to email [email protected].
