First Congregational Church to hold 13th annual Caroling on the Common event

Sing in the Season: Caroling on the Common returns December 7

It’s time to join your friends and neighbors as they sing in the season during one of Milton’s most festive holiday events. Caroling on the Common, hosted by the First Congregational Church of Milton, is the church’s first major holiday event, and one of the most fun. On Saturday, December 7, come roast marshmallows and sip hot chocolate and cider by the fire, or warm up inside while making memories at the craft tables and nibbling sweets at the cookie showcase.

At 4 p.m., they begin welcoming visitors into the cozy and warmly decorated sanctuary. The musical magic begins shortly afterwards with a lively, 45-minute show by the Boston Conservatory at Berklee Cabaret. Visitors will be given songbooks and jingle bells to help them sing along with old favorites. “Singing together brings people together, and what could be better in this season then remembering that we are one community together,” says Reverend John Allen.

After the show, the crowd can gather on the lawn, where fire pits warm them or head inside to the church’s halls where craft and food tables will be set up. The church will also be taking wreath orders, which benefit their youth programs. The celebration concludes at 6 p.m.

The event is free and open to everyone, and the church encourages donations of coats, hats and mittens to help support their ongoing missions in the community. Boxes where you can drop those items and any canned goods are available at the church.

“Welcoming the community to experience the beauty and joy of this season is at the heart of who we are as a church,” says Rev. Allen, “I cannot wait to enjoy this year’s celebration with my family.”
