Milton goes GOLD for Childhood Cancer Awareness, September 16-30

The Town of Milton, Milton Public Schools, the Milton Police Department, the Milton Fire Department, and multiple community members are participating in Milton GOES GOLD for Childhood Cancer Awareness from September 16th-30th.

The goal is to raise awareness and funds and show support for children who are battling cancer.

How Can You Go Gold?

DONATE YOUR GOLD

From September 16-30, send spare change in with your child to help fill the GOLD boots at all elementary schools. You can also donate directly to the Michael C. McHugh Memorial Foundation. We are also collecting items for the One Mission Resource Room from this list at Pierce and MHS.

From September 16-30, we will be collecting the following items at Pierce Middle School for the One Mission Resource Room at Boston Children’s Hospital:

• Toys & Crafts: Lego kits, Playdoh and Playdoh kits, art kits (i.e. Alex, Craftastic, Melissa & Doug, Klutz), journals and sketch pads, intricate art kits, 1000+ piece puzzles, colored pencils, adult coloring books, canvases, acrylic paint and paint brushes
• Electronics & Accessories: headphones/ear buds, wireless bluetooth speakers, pop sockets, phone cases, PS4 games, PS4 controllers and chargers
• Health & Beauty Items: makeup kits, nail polish
• Clothing & Comfort Items: hats (preferably store bought, sports logos, etc.), blankets (especially larger sizes), scarves, lounge/PJ pants (all sizes/genders, including adult) We cannot accept any used/unwrapped items, food/drinks, anything living (plants, flowers, terrariums, succulents). Please limit cloth items that are individually wrapped or cannot be washed.

GIVE BLOOD – AS VALUABLE AS GOLD

We are holding TWO blood drives in Milton in September. Saturday 9/21 9am-4pm (75 slots) and Thursday 9/26 8am -3pm (75 slots). See donation guidelines here.

WEAR YOUR GOLD

On Thursday September 26th, wear as much gold as you can! You can wear your own gold clothing/ accessories and/or purchase Milton GOES GOLD shoelaces ($3) in your school office or online here.

CHEER FOR GOLD

Attend the MHS Football game on Friday, September 27th for Milton GOES GOLD night! Support the Milton GOES Gold lemonade stand, cheer on our honor team captains who have been affected by childhood cancer, donate to the Michael C. McHugh Memorial Foundation and bring your donations for the Key Club collection.

All proceeds earned through Milton GOES GOLD will be donated to Wicked Good Cause and the Michael C. McHugh Memorial Foundation.
