Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills to hold Pride Shabbat
Pride Kabbalat Shabbat to be held in honor of Pride Month
In honor of LGBT Pride Month in June, Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills will hold a Pride Shabbat Friday evening service on June 14th at 7:45 p.m. This also will be a Musical Shabbat Service with guitarist/singer David Wesson, and it is open to the entire community.
Join the congregation for our first Pride Kabbalat Shabbat, celebrating equality and inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, transgender and questioning Jews, friends, families and allies, and recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.
The Stonewall “riots” were a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations by members of the gay community against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village in New York City.
