Memorial Day Observance to be scheduled for Monday, May 27
Observance to be held at Town Green
Milton’s Director of Veterans Services Kevin J Cook , American Legion Post #114 and the Town of Milton announce that Milton’s 2019 Memorial Day program has been finalized.
This year’s Memorial Day Observance is scheduled for Monday, May 27th 2019. Ceremonies will begin at the Town Green at 9:30 a.m. with the raising of the flag and placement of wreaths at the Town’s War Memorial by local Veterans from American Legion Post #114.
Shortly after this ceremony, elected state and local officials, Milton Police and Fire Department Color Guards, the Auxiliary Fire Department and Milton’s scout troops will proceed to Milton Cemetery accompanied by the Milton High School marching band.
Services at Milton Cemetery will begin at 10:00 a.m. Welcoming remarks will be given by Milton’s Veterans Agent Kevin J Cook, American Legion Post #114 and Cemetery Trustees and local officials.
Our featured speaker will be Natalie Fultz, Milton MA resident and WW2/Korean War Veteran. Natalie served in the US Navy’s WAVES (“Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service” — a division of the U.S. Navy created during World War II to free up male personnel for sea duty.) She attained the rank of Yeoman 1st Class and served here in Boston in the Navy’s intelligence division. Her service was pioneering for female Veterans at a time when women serving in the military was hugely controversial.
A roll call of all recently deceased veterans will be read as a tribute to the service of these men and women. All residents, friends and family are cordially invited to attend the Memorial Day Observance. If it rains on Memorial Day, the ceremony will be held at the Council on Aging Building, 10 Walnut Street Milton MA.
