Entertainment, liquor licenses discussed for local businesses at March 13 Select Board meeting
Last week’s Select Board meeting covered numerous town related issues. Here is a summary of many of the items discussed.
The Select Board unanimously approved a motion to award Milton Auto Repair of 944 Canton Ave a temporary Class 2 auto dealer license. A number of stipulations have been included to ensure that the scope of the license is limited by term and by capacity. This “concierge” style service will allow for the sale of vehicles to interested customers. The sales must be pre-approved prior to purchase, vehicles cannot be purchased by Milton Auto Repair without a direct sale lined up, the owner is prohibited from advertising auto sales on site and the use of “For Sale” signs are not allowed on any cars. The license is also limited by time as authorization is terminated after 3 years unless extended by the board.
Mr. Chan’s Restaurant of 534 Adams Street applied for an entertainment license to allow for karaoke, comedy and open mic style activities. The Restaurant can accommodate 74 dine-in customers, and this added entertainment will serve to potentially increase in-restaurant dining on weeknights. The proposal is for a 5 hour window on weeknights and 6 hour window on weekends – both starting at 5pm. The Select Board is continuing this hearing for further discussion until the March 27th meeting.
Amid tense discussion, the hearing related to the Milton Club application for a full use liquor license has been continued until the next Select Board Meeting on March 27th.
Daniel Truog, Troop 5 Milton Eagle Scout would like to revamp and clean up the bridge behind the high school. The Board supports his efforts and thank him!
The outdoor street hockey court will be installed at Gile Road on one of the basketball courts. This is a temporary location until the work on the basketball court resurfacing begins.
