Milton Historical Society to host its Fireside Chat program

Fireside Chat program to be held on January 12th

The Milton Historical Society is hosting its Fireside Chat program on Saturday, January 12th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Suffolk Resolves House, 1370 Canton Ave., Milton, MA. Reservations are required as there is a 20-person limit.

Local historian Dennis “Mike” Doyle will discuss the importance of primary and secondary sources when researching history. To illustrate its importance, he will share interesting vignettes on Milton history and some of its past residents that demonstrate both the importance and problems faced when reviewing source materials.

Coffee and light refreshments will be available. Reservations only to [email protected] or 617-696-0870.

The Suffolk Resolves House was so named because Milton was once in Suffolk County before the boundaries were redrawn and is the building where the Suffolk Resolves were signed on September 4, 1774. The Resolves were an important predecessor document to the Declaration of Independence. At that time, the residence was owned by Daniel Vose. The house is now the headquarters of the Milton Historical Society.
