Milton Public Library to feature painter Rob Franco
Local painter to be featured at Milton Public Library throughout December
During the month of December, there will be a lovely display of paintings by artist Rob Franco installed in the Wotiz Gallery of the Milton Public Library. The exhibit will remain in place from December 1st through the 28th. This artwork will show images of many different subjects including the wild horses of Assateague Island in Maryland, landscapes from places like Martha’s Vineyard and Rockport, MA, ponds, oceans, sunrises, boats, birds, flowers, children, and much more. Rob is a commercial artist, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, has worked at several local companies, and hails from Natick, MA. He took second place in a 2014 juried show at the Art Complex Museum. He and his wife Ruth are dedicated to the preservation of the wild horses of Assateague Island, where they visit frequently to photograph these fascinating animals for Rob to use as an inspiration for this work. The couple gave a nice educational presentation at the Library on November 13th, 2018 about the horses, which included a film and some paintings and island artifacts on display as an introduction to the December exhibit, and this art talk was very well received by those who attended. This is what Mr. Franco says about his paintings: “My passion for art began at an early age during visits to a neighborhood artist in Newport, RI. This led to training as an illustrator in the United States Air Force and continued as a graphic artist in the Boston area. After studying with renowned artist and teacher, Albert Handell, at drawing and pastel workshops in Woodstock, NY, the focus of my art was portraits of children and animals….a fascination with the ocean and other bodies of water continues to inspire my work.” Please do not miss this beautiful display during December!
