First Congregational Church’s 12th Annual Caroling on the Common Celebration to take place on December 8
Sing in the Season: Caroling with the Boston Conservatory at Berklee Cabaret in Milton
Old traditions create new memories for all who come to First Congregational Church’s first holiday event of the season, Saturday, December 8th. Join your friends and neighbors as they sing Christmas carol favorites, make lasting holiday crafts, sip hot chocolate and cider, and roast marshmallows by the open fire.
At 4:00 p.m., the Milton High Holiday Chorus sings from the steps, welcoming visitors into the cozy and beautifully decorated sanctuary. The musical magic continues inside with a lively 45-minute show by the Boston Conservatory at Berklee Cabaret. It’s always a pleasure to share these special voices surrounded by your community, and visitors will be given songbooks and jingle bells to help them sing along with old favorites. “Our church looks forward every year to offering a wide welcome to the whole community to catch the spirit of the season,” says Reverend John Allen. “Caroling on the Common is a great way to celebrate Christmas.”
After the show, the crowd can gather on the lawn, where fire pits warm them as they roast marshmallows—a kid favorite—or head inside to the church’s Johnson Hall to create holiday crafts, drink warm cider, and, of course, eat lots of cookies. The celebration concludes at 6:00 p.m.
This not-to-miss event is free and open to everyone, and the church encourages donations to help support their ongoing missions in the community. Coats, hats, mittens and canned food items may be dropped in the boxes provided at the church.
“There is nothing quite like music and community to welcome the Christmas season,” says Reverend Allen. “Our church believes in the power of beauty and joy, and we invite you all to come and be a part of it.”
