Friends of the Blue Hills to host Annual Celebration on October 4th
Annual Celebration to honor Milton resident John Erickson
The Friends of the Blue Hills will host their Annual Celebration on Thursday, October 4th, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Canton Town Club, 300 Bailey Street in Canton. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, and the presentation of the organization’s 2018 Community Partners Awards.
Milton resident John Erickson will be one of the honorees at this year’s event. Erickson is a vice-president and partner of Sunrise Erectors, a family construction business in Canton. He is a dedicated and generous supporter of the Friends of the Blue Hills, helping to ensure there are adequate resources to maintain the trails, keep the forests healthy and protect the park from inappropriate development.
The keynote speaker at the Annual Celebration will be Ellen Berkland, staff archaeologist at the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Berkland’s remarks, titled “First People, First Stewards,” will explore the rich history of the Native Americans who were the first residents of the Blue Hills.
There will also be a special raffle as part of the festivities: a gourmet dinner for six at the top of the Blue Hills Observatory, catered by Siros and Port 305 in Marina Bay, Quincy. Tickets for the raffle are $15 each or 3/$35 and can be purchased at FriendsoftheBlueHills.org/Raffle2018.
To attend the event:
Tickets are $35 if purchased by October 1 and $40 at the door and are available at FriendsoftheBlueHills.org/Celebrate2018.
