Milton DPW releases trash, recycling, and yard waste information for 2018
From the Milton Department of Public Works.
Milton is a Pay-As-You-Throw community – please make sure your trash is properly stickered or it may be left at the curb! One sticker covers 32 gallons of trash, in a bag or barrel.
Annual Sticker Users:
Annual Stickers for trash collection are available at the Treasurer’s Office at Milton Town Hall for $156.00/year. The stickers expire on June 30, 2018. Stickers are prorated by week. For the most updated annual sticker price, call the Treasurer’s Office at (617) 898-4853. Current year stickers are red. If your sticker is blue, it’s expired! Please call the Treasurer’s Office for a new one.
Weekly Sticker Users:
There is no change in the single use trash sticker program. The $3.00 RED stickers will remain valid. These are the weekly stickers you may purchase at local stores and town hall.
Milton DPW is able to aid in the disposal and recycling of most household waste. For information on how to dispose of a given item, see How Do I Dispose Of…? or MA Beyond the Bin for more information.
Milton’s solid waste vendor, Sunrise Scavenger, does not accept recycling or yard waste put out in plastic bags. Please do not dispose of plastic bags in your recycling. You can recycle plastic bags at some local stores including Lowe’s, Target, and Wal-Mart.

Change in Mattress and Box Spring Collection
Previously, mattresses and box springs were picked up by Milton’s solid waste vendor, Sunrise Scavenger. Effective immediately, mattresses will now be picked up by Milton DPW on Tuesdays by appointment only. To ensure your mattress or box spring is picked up, please fill out a mattress/box spring pickup request form or call DPW at 617-898-4900 by Friday at noon. Your mattress or box spring will be picked up the following Tuesday. Please place the item curbside by 7am Tuesday and attach two (2) $3.00 trash stickers to the item.
Mattresses and box springs may also be disposed of at the town recycling center at 629 Randolph Avenue on the first Saturday of each month from 9am – 12 noon for one (1) sticker per item.
Please expect further updates on mattress pickup to be mailed and posted on the DPW web page, Facebook, and Twitter. Questions may be directed to the DPW at 617-898-4900.
Compost Bins Now Available
The DPW is once again making compost bins available to Milton Residents at wholesale prices. Residents can purchase an Earth Machines composter for $42 at the Treasurer’s Office at Town Hall. The composters will then be available for pickup at the Milton DPW Yard (629 Randolph Avenue) on the following Thursday. It’s that easy!
Town Hall Voucher System
As of April 1, 2008, Town Hall offices no longer accept cash payments for goods and services. This include fees for recycling bins and also materials accepted at the DPW Yard such as waste oil, antifreeze, car batteries, and tires. Residents may still use personal checks. For more information, contact the Treasurer’s Office at (617) 898-4853.
